Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day. Deuteronomy 15

The Sabbath before Passover is the “Great Sabbath” a time when God calls his people to reflect on his plan: the past, the present, and the future fulfillment of all of His promises. As we rejoice in the Sabbath rest today, let us consider the implications for us, for our children, and for the whole world of the ultimate rest that God envisions for the Israel of God.
