Sola Scriptura
Christians are sometimes confused by the term Judeo Christian. Judeo Christian does not mean Jewish Christian or Messianic Jew, so what does it mean?
Let me explain what Judeo Christian means, for those who are without background in the topic; the words Judeo Christian are most often used to describe the biblically based religious, moral, and ethical heritage of certain western societies. But there is a more complete definition of Judeo Christianity:
A belief system and lifestyle founded upon the principle of Sola Scriptura (by bible alone). The Holy Bible, in its entirety, (Hebrew and Greek scriptures) is a complete and divinely inspired compilation of books written for revelation, instruction, and reproof.

God has a plan that has been consistent through history as shown by the unified purpose of God’s teachings and by the personal examples of the faithful: from Abel to Christ and his apostles.
The Bible is a comprehensive life-map designed by God the Father and spoken by the Word to provide the path to a good physical life and the only path to eternal life through Christ, the Rock of our Salvation, YHVH, the Lord of Hosts and King of Kings. It contains historical eye witness accounts, memoire, poetry, teaching, and prophecy in one integrated package written over the centuries. It’s themes and purpose are consistent and for those who read it’s message, believe it, and then act on it the promise is one of an abundant life walking in harmony with the Creator.
A Brief History of the Scripturalists
Judeo Christianity emerged into the English-speaking world during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of Great Britain in the late 1500s, as part of the non-conformist Reformation movement.
This specific reformation was based in an understanding that both the Old and New Covenant Scriptures held authority, rather than Catholic (or Protestant) church traditions (Matthew 4:4; John 17:17; Matthew 15:3-9). These people were called scripturalists, and their foundational principle was Sola Scriptura, by scripture alone. So they were Sabbath keeping Christians who rejected the Roman church calendar and its days of worship in favour of the biblically based Hebrew calendar and the Holy Days enumerated in scripture.
They rejected many of the teachings of Augustine, Arius, and other early church fathers, whose teachings were contrary to the clear record of scripture.
First Century Roots
However, this present 21st Century revival of Judeo Christian belief traces its beginning to the original ‘Church’ that Christ founded, the Jerusalem church, and the apostles who continued to teach the gospel after Christ’s death and resurrection. The apostle John and his disciples, Polycarp and Polycrates, continued the biblical tradition. Later, others like Pelagius and the early Celtic Christians, including Patrick and Columba, continued to reject the authority of the Romani and their traditions in favour of the principle of ‘Sola Scriptura.’
“Judeo Christian” belief has a long history, and continues to provide the ‘minority’ report when it comes to rejecting human religious traditions (Jewish or Christian) in favour of living by every word of God, as Jesus admonished his followers.
